Rhyl first visited Rhayader in the Cymru Alliance days and the supporters soon took a liking to the new scenary with a stroll around the town. The town itself is very sleepy with plenty of welcoming 'olde-worlde' pubs - although Lily did incur the wrath of the Lamb & Flag's landlady a few years ago by parking in her car park whilst buying some chips in the nearby Fish and Chips shop. The tea shop with old oak-lined walls in the centre of town is also a good spot for something to eat at a reasonable price.
The ground itself is accessed from a narrow road on the left as you leave Rhayader heading towards the Elan Valley. These days it's signposted which makes it far easier to spot. Situated in a basin at the bottom of town, the Weirglodd is one of the most scenic venues for football in the League of Wales.
They have a nice club-house on site with a plenty of old team photographs and memorabilia adorning the walls for the nostalgia buff. The ladies in the canteen do a fine job and serve up one of the best value Jumbo 'Hot Dog' sausages in the league. Be quick though because Lily was too late on her last visit and missed out!!
This is one of the most popular trips of the season, not least because we always seem to do well there. Miss it and you miss out!
