Trips to Jenner Park have become synonymous with European games over the last few years, and the club are to be complimented on being able to host these prestigious games at their own stadium.
Lily first visited the ground in the 93/4 season when Barry played Rhyl in the FAW Trophy. There have been many changes to the ground since then, with a fantastic clubhouse and corporate facility built behind one of the goals, and a brand new stand almost mirroring the existing one opposite.
This is one of the few grounds were it is bearable to watch a game from the other side of a running track, and there's usually plenty of banter to be had with outspoken locals who dispute any decision that goes against their own team!
The town of Barry has very little to offer the travelling fan for shopping, etc. There are a few traditional pubs and a takeaway within walking distance of the ground but nothing worth writing home about. Being located in one of the most built-up areas in the league, it can sometimes be tricky finding the ground - it took Lily seven attempts before finally being able to use the same route on consecutive occasions!
A pleasant enough "away day", but such a shame that 'bread and butter' league games do not generate anywhere near the level of interest or atmosphere of European ties.
